I have a history of back pain due to scoliosis.  After years of pain with no end in sight, I started exercising for reasons other than my back.  A personal trainer told me that by strengthening my back, I could have less pain.  I did not believe him at first, but I thought it was worth a shot.  I started out at physical therapy then continued with tougher strength training and core training at the gym.  The exercise has helped me tremendously.  If only I had known to do this sooner!  So now I want to spread this information to share with others experiencing back pain.
